John W. McHorse was my gggggrandfather, at only 17 years old, he was involved in the Battle of San Jacinto,
the battle that changed the American West. He served under Gen. Sam Houston and came the Republic of Texas
when we was only 16 years old. Miss Lissia's is alive with history.
Historical Cabin in the Woods
This is a very nice place to stay. Its very secluded and private and full of beautiful furnishings and
antiques that are just right for that special holiday, anniversary or just a little get a way. You will
go back into the past with all the history and exhibits that take you back to those wonderful times when
our pioneers had to overcome all kinds of odds. Wonderful place to stay!! Thank you so much. -Judy in Texas
Miss Lissa's is Wonderful!
Wonderful place to stay! Very romantic, quiet, and feels like "home away from home".
The owners are very attentive to your needs but leave you alone to celebrate your special event.
Very precious place. We will be returning soon!
Romantic!
We had a wonderful romantic stay at Miss Lissia's. It was wonderfully relaxing to sit on the porch in
the evening and slow down. Breakfast was wonderful.
Very Private
We enjoyed our stay, very romantic, our own private cabin, romanctic extra's are everywhere, books, cd's,
games, the cottage is set for romance. What a mood-maker! The stars were beautiful and you can take a
sunset walk, very relaxing.
We enjoyed the privacy and the whirlpool for two. So romantic and beautiful.
Every marriage needs and deserves 'time away.' Time away to focus on the one you love, the one you committed
to and the one you will spend the rest of your life with. Invest wisely in your covenent marriage, honoring
the committment you made on your wedding day. Planning an overnight or weekend escape can 'rekindle your romance.'
-Michelle & Derek Doss Ultimate Intimacy Conference 2007
"All the investment we put into building our marriages is one of the best investments we can possibly make.
Many people spend a lot of money getting married, but they don't spend very much [money] learning how to be married.
By choosing to invest in your marriage, you're one of the wise ones, and I believe it's going to pay big
dividends for you."

"God's steadfast love motivates us to enter into covenant with him. We know in our hearts God is committed
to our best interest. Therefore, with confidence we can commit our lives to loving and serving him. In covenant
marriage, it is much the same. We enter our marriage with a sense we are loved and that we love each other;
thus, we can freely commit ourselves to each other for life. We are then responsible for maintaining this
attitude of love throughout the marriage."
